American and British scientists worked together studying a particular English family for more than a decade. This family suffers from primary open angle glaucoma, which affects more than 30 million people worldwide. They found a faulty gene in the members of the family that have glaucoma.

Since symptoms of glaucoma such as increased ocular pressure are rarely noticeable, this discovery will provide an excellent diagnosis tool for treating patients before any vision is even lost.
